FineMatte: Depth in a Matt Surface

FineMatte combines a matt touch with visual depth, including selected metallic effects. Its character becomes clearer as the light changes, making a labelled physical sample an important part of choosing a cabinet finish.

A quieter way to introduce metallic colour

A metallic finish can add another layer to a room without becoming its brightest surface. FineMatte uses a PET film surface with a matt touch. Selected décors reveal a subtle metallic character as the viewing angle and light change, bringing depth to a flat cabinet face.

Rather than choosing from a small screen image alone, look at the finish beside the materials already guiding the room. A warm floor, a cool stone and a brushed handle can each change how the same colour feels within a palette. Let those relationships guide the shortlist.

Compare FineMatte and NanoMatte together

Matt describes more than one surface direction. FineMatte is useful when the brief calls for depth within a matt surface or a restrained metallic response. NanoMatte offers a low-reflection, soft-touch direction. The distinction is easiest to see when both labelled samples sit under the same light.

Compare similar colours at the same angle, then move around them. Record the décor code as well as the collection name: a metallic effect belongs to the identified finish, and should not be assumed for every matt sample.

Choose the form for the component

The chosen appearance is the beginning of the specification. A complete film-faced panel already includes its core and needs cutting, edging and machining. FineMatte Laminate is a separate film-on-HPL surface for suitable curved and vertical details; it needs an appropriate supporting base and bonding process.

Flat doors and a curved end can therefore share a design direction while using different supplied forms. Ask the fabricator to review the shape and construction before treating a colour match as a complete material solution. For complete FineMatte panels, single- and double-sided options are available; the reverse still needs to be identified on the actual item.

Finish the selection at full scale

Place the preferred sample near the worktop, flooring and hardware. Check the face and coordinating edge together, particularly where a door is seen from the side. A larger panel view helps judge whether the metallic character remains as quiet as intended across a run of joinery.

Keep the approved sample reference with the décor code, supplied form, core, dimensions, face configuration and edge item. Explore the FineMatte collection, then arrange a sample comparison with the KnoxOne team.
