VOXAURA Cabinet Lighting: Matter-over-Thread and System Selection

VOXAURA by Knox System brings cabinet lighting, power and controls into a modular system for kitchens, wardrobes, shelves and display joinery. Its Matter-enabled control units let a compatible lighting installation connect to a wider smart home using Matter-over-Thread.

What the Matter connection adds

A compatible Matter setup can bring cabinet lighting into smart-home control and automations alongside other supported devices. VOXAURA's manufacturer identifies Apple Home, Google Home and Amazon Alexa as supported Matter ecosystems. The functions available depend on the selected light, control unit and smart-home platform.

What you need

  1. Power: a correctly sized VOXAURA SD4000 Smart-Driver and the required primary lead.
  2. Lighting control: the appropriate Matter-enabled CU4000 control unit for the light's voltage, colour system, connector and control mode.
  3. Lighting: compatible 24 V lights, cables and connectors. Check the total connected load against the driver and control-unit limits.
  4. Smart-home connection: a compatible Matter controller and Thread border router. These roles may be provided by one compatible device; verify the exact model and generation.

A device described as “Matter-compatible” does not necessarily include a Thread border router. Ordinary Wi-Fi alone does not meet the Matter-over-Thread connection requirement.

Choose the correct CU4000

CU4000 names the control-unit series; it does not identify one pin count. The range includes 2-pin monochrome, 2-pin multi-white, 3-pin multi-white, 4-pin RGB and 6-pin RGB-Multi-white configurations. Select the exact SKU and synchronous or asynchronous mode required for the project.

For example, SKU 113.10.01.001 is the 24 V synchronous 4-pin RGB control unit, with six 4-pin outputs. It is distinct from the 6-pin RGB-Multi-white version. A higher-capacity control unit does not increase the power available from a smaller driver.

Do the remote and every light connect directly to Matter?

No. VOXAURA's wireless switches and remote controls use Bluetooth. They are controls for a compatible lighting system, rather than independent Matter-over-Thread devices. LED ribbons, profiles and ordinary cables do not become independent Matter devices simply because they are part of a VOXAURA installation.

The ONE DIAL remote provides local lighting control and scene recall through compatible VOXAURA controls. For Matter integration, plan the compatible control unit and smart-home equipment separately.

Can I use local control without a smart-home hub?

The manufacturer supports direct Bluetooth control using the VOXAURA app or compatible switches and remotes without a gateway. This local control path is separate from the equipment needed for Matter-over-Thread smart-home integration.
